Persona is a designed interface that people interact with the world. The world is complex, so as people, so people create a persona means at least having limited control of how people see you. I have a couple of personal relationships encountering someone who are experts at keeping a mostly consistent(?) shell of their true self. I used to be frightened and angry when I found out they had been putting such a lie on, and I can’t understand it. I mean, almost like a psychopath, the cruelty and the casualness of this kind of mentality. But after reaching a certain age, I’m able to understand things from another angle.
The shell is created to keep the fragile ego hidden but at the same time with an unwavering desire for social approval/praise.
